WE BELIEVE IN EDUCATION AND WE KNOW IT ALL STARTS WITH OUR CHILDREN! STAR 1053, AND 1079 THE BEAT IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT IT’S TIME AGAIN FOR OUR ANNUAL BLACK HISTORY  ESSAY CONTEST PRESENTED BY THE ATHLETE’S FOOT, THAT WILL AWARD A LUCKY STUDENT WITH A SCHOLARSHIP TO HELP THEM FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION AFTER HIGH SCHOOL. HERE ARE THIS YEARS’ TOPICS!

CATEGORIES ARE:

HIP HOP MUSIC

  • The new era of Hip Hop music has dramatically changed since it’s beginning. We’ve gone from content that promotes education and empowerment to content that promotes open drug use, fictitious lifestyles, and blatant disrespect for others.

Does it impact your outlook on society? Does it affect you and your community? Should there be more censorship and does it matter?

HEALTH

  • With hypertension, obesity, and cancer leading the African American race to premature death… How would you get African Americans to take their health more seriously? – must include preventative measures and a plan of action

ELECTION/POLITICS

Is voting a right or a privilege? Do you think that the electoral college is an effective system?

The contest is open to all area high school seniors and will be judged by an independent, objective committee of judges and the scholarships will go directly to the school.

Applications and Guidelines are available to download below or for pick up at the offices of Black Crow Media. (1711 Ellis Drive Valdosta, GA 31601)
